A Bit of Me

After a lifetime (so far) in the mining industry I figured I knew enough about it to set up a strategic marketing business. I chose the worst possible time (actually, it was chosen for me but that’s another story) with the industry in a tailspin so decided to write about some of the things that have happened to me. I have been fortunate, some would say bloody lucky, to have travelled the world on someone else’s account so it’s only fair I should tell them and you what I got up to.

Along the way I have developed an interest in red wine – not as a connoisseur but as an unsophisticated quaffer. Despite the name of the blog I won’t be reviewing the wines of the world. It is there simply because in all of my travels it was the one constant. In fact that constant extends beyond travel. My reds are a constant companion when I watch sport (on TV obviously) and I do that a lot. Family get-togethers are another excuse. Celebrations, relaxation time, day names ending in “y”.

Whenever the child bride and I steal some quality time, the wine makes up a threesome or a foursome if you break it down into my red and her white (or bubbles). Incidentally the “child bride” reference is explained somewhere in my hand-written musings and will probably make it onto this blog eventually.

I like to talk about politics (over a nice full-bodied shiraz) but my relatives don’t any more so be prepared.

That’s about it for me – travel, wine, sport, politics. Oh, and I like to have a laugh. The more politically incorrect the better although I wouldn’t want to offend anyone (that last bit was a joke).
